Why we do what we do

Our Mission

At Será Cacao, we understand cacao as a gift from the earth – it can only develop its full potential in a healthy, diverse ecosystem. That's why we rely on traditional agroforestry systems like the Brazilian Cabruca , which protect rainforest biodiversity. Studies show that such agroforestry systems preserve more than 278 native species and increase resilience to pests and climate change.

We pursue a holistic approach:
Ecology, economy, and social responsibility form a cycle. From cultivation to packaging, everything remains local in Brazil. – fair, sustainable, and with great respect for local communities. This way, the added value flows directly back into the region, promoting a true circular economy.

Our values

  • Earth Care

We protect the environment through regenerative cacao cultivation. Our cacao grows under shade trees in the rainforest (agroforestry), which nourishes the soil and promotes biodiversity. Studies show that cabruca cultivation preserves over 278 native species. In this way, we actively protect the rainforest and preserve natural cycles.

  • People Care

Fair conditions for everyone involved are important to us. We work closely with a Brazilian smallholder cooperative, guaranteeing fair pay and promoting local prosperity. From cultivation to shipping, everything remains in Brazil – this strengthens the local economy and creates stable jobs. We also share knowledge: traditional cocoa cultivation know-how is passed on and preserved.

  • Fair Share

We consciously return profits to the community. We donate 10% of our sales to projects protecting the Atlantic Rainforest. We are also committed to educational and awareness-raising work to promote sustainable consumption. Responsible consumption and fair supply chains protect the environment and promote social justice.

Ceremonial Grade Cocoa

What is it and what does it have to do with SerÁ CACAO?

Ceremonial Grade is not a protected term—rather, it's a recommendation for particularly high-quality cocoa. Quality characteristics include:

  • 100% pure cocoa (cocoa mass): No additives such as sugar, emulsifiers or vegetable fats.
  • Single-Origin: The cocoa comes from a single growing region and is harvested by small farmers – transparency and fair conditions are important.
  • Gentle processing: Traditional fermentation and low roasting (no “Dutchen”) preserve aroma and nutrients.
  • Sustainability & Respect: Organic farming and fair wages are central to our approach; harvesting often takes place under ecological conditions.

Our Será cocoa meets all these requirements:

It is 100% pure and certified organic, comes from the country of origin, is processed without additives, and is ideal for ritual applications. Carefully produced locally, it combines the highest quality with the full, authentic flavor of cocoa.

Sustainable packaging

Our packaging is part of our mission.
100% plastic-free and compostable:

We use recycled cardboard and completely avoid plastics. Plastic practically doesn't decompose – it simply breaks down into smaller and smaller particles (microplastics). This environmentally friendly packaging conserves resources and actively reduces our carbon footprint. So you can enjoy our cocoa without harming the planet.
